Consultancy Africa Intelligence's discussion papers are developed by our fine team of analysts, consultants and interns from CAI's five key Research Units. These papers are freely released in our fortnightly newsletter (click here to subscribe), and a comprehensive archive of each unit's discussion papers can be accessed below.
|
CAI's Africa Watch discussion papers provide an overarching commentary and analysis on key developments in Africa. The main focus areas include analysis of relevant political, social, investment, economic and business-related issues facing the African continent, as it emerges into the global spotlight.

CAI's Asia Dimension discussion papers focus on the increasing interaction between Africa and Asia from a political and economic standpoint. Given Asia's growing involvement on the African continent, which has led to the displacement of traditional Western partners, this series aims at analysing the continent's relationship with Asian countries, particularly China and India, and the role that they play in the political and socio-economic progress of Africa.

CAI's Conflict & Terrorism discussion papers offer a review and analysis of conflict and terrorism developments in Africa. Given the history and susceptibility of the African continent to threats of both conflict and terrorism, these discussion papers attempt to examine and offer commentary on both issues, within the context of the development of the African continent.

CAI's Gender Issues discussion papers address a wide variety of issues pertaining to gender. They portray gender issues as products of the evolution of history and social structure, and attempt to contextualise matters that affect people's lives based on their gender. Some of the issues addressed include gender-based violence (GBV), HIV & AIDS, female genital cutting and mutilation (FGM/C), development and rights.

CAI's HIV & AIDS discussion papers deal with trends and developments in HIV & AIDS across the African continent. Key issues of concern include prevention and treatment, care, culture and stigma, sustainability and funding challenges, and research and innovation. The HIV & AIDS discussion papers also address the political-economic context in which decisions around the epidemic are made, and their consequences.
